Today was the first CSA share pick-up of the season, and in the grand tradition of several years of Tuesday CSA pick-ups, it rained. Also in the grand tradition of several years of Tuesday CSA pick-ups, I was grouchy upon arrival. But, the moment I walked into the CSA site, all was immediately forgiven. Usually, the first couple of weeks of the CSA season yield mostly spices and dried beans. This year, the early hot weather made for a great first week, and it looked more like the end of June than the beginning.
CSA Share, week 1:
1 quart strawberries
1 head lettuce
1 bunch leeks
1 bag Jerusalem artichoke
1 bunch french tarragon
1 bunch curly cress
Fruit Share, week 1:
2 pints strawberries
8 stalks rhubarb
We have both a vegetable and a fruit share, so now Jeremy and I are swimming in strawberries and rhubarb–not that I’m complaining. (Is that a pie I see in my very near future?)
